Crochet Away 'till my heart's content

I thought you might like to see what I have been up to in the crafty stakes lately.  During the winter I am not at my best, so I find that crochet and knitting help me to relax, unwind and keep sane during the winter months, as I find it easy and quick to do.

Feeling very fed up with the grey skies, I went a bit mad in the yarn store the other week, when all the snow was falling down and bought various colours of yarn.  These sat upon my coffee table in all their glory until I found a use for them and conjured up some majestic colourways.

Some of my efforts are more adventurous than others and I particularly like the blue and red circular item above which I want to make into a cushion cover with a view to making the cushion pad in denim to show off the beauty of the crochet stitches.

You have probably guessed already from my other posts, that I love colour and these pieces are certainly colourful.  I will be busy on my sewing machine soon sewing cushion covers I think and will keep you posted on the results of my crochetathon soon.

Winter Seaside Views

After the storm, came the quiet,
and some sun rays.

A walk along the sea front
blew away the cobwebs
and the dust that had been covered by the snow.

Although cold, the sun shone and
it felt good to be free.

Here are some shots I took during my walk along the prom last Sunday.
I love the architecture of the seaside shelters in their jolly yellow
and their wrought iron filigree standing proud and strong.

Surprisingly, because it was so cold, there were alot of people doing the same,
walking their dogs,
holding hands and sitting chatting,
drinking tea, grateful to have escaped the four walls
for some over due fresh air and sunshine.

A little bit of Sunshire Required .......

1. yellow and green forest, 2. Yellow Harvest Mittens, 3. Yellow bike, 4. The yellow cabinet, 5. Vintage Yellow Dishware Set, 6. Splendor in yellow..., 7. Day 83 - Yellow, 8. Tea cup swap #2, 9. A quest for the most perfect yellow yarn..., 10. Yellow Polka Dot Top :)

Today, I was so cold, as my  heating went on the blink, I thought we needed warming up so I have chosen a selection of warming images to bring cheer and warmth into our snowy, cold world today

I did venture out, to the town today, as I couldn't bear the thought of another day of looking at the four walls.  I managed to walk in with my big walking boots on and with several layers, I kept fairly warm.  Surprisingly, the town was quite busy with like minded passers by, fighting the cold, and keeping some normality in their lives.

I stocked up on food, sweets (wine gums, my favourites) and milk so I am ready for the next onslaught of snow forecast soon. I am armed with plenty of yarn to crochet up some new delights and keep 'the wolf from the door and blues from setting in.

I wanted to start the month with my own calendar page
designed by my own fair hands,

 and Guide's honour,
I promise to be on time next month.

Feel free to print out and use or pop on your page

Happy 2010

Where did the Christmas holiday go ......

as today is the start of the working year  for most,

and the icy roads do not cause too much trouble for all

Crochet Comforts

Two reasons I am staying in the warm today,
I am feeling a bit poorly,
it always happens to me at this time of the year,
and too much running about
and not taking it steady.

Snowy and icy patches are still on the ground,
surrounding my little home,
and the sky looks grey and full of rain,
so another great reason to stay in
the snug warmth of my little home.

I've tried in spurts to be a little crafty,
to avoid the yuk feeling of ill,
and with a little crochet,
simply loopy, makes me smile,
while I feel sick, sad and on my tad!

I am not sure what they will be,
but I think cushion covers of a colourful kind!

Snowy Tails

Winter has finally arrived here in Hampshire and Great Britain.  We had our first falling of snow the other day which was a bit of shock because up until recently it has been so mild.

I took a few snaps for the record of the event which happens so rarely now.  We did have more snow the next day which had left us black ice and dangerous patches.

Buzz liked sniffing the air and even tried eating the snow.  However, I think he found that his winter coat was not warm enough to keep him toasty and the snow made his paws icy cold so he didn't stay out for too long.

Winter Viewpoints

I took these images last winter which I thought you might like to see. They are of things which I think are beautiful in their colour, form and texture illustrating that winter can be a wonderful blanket of imagery to explore. I hope you enjoy.
